AMY HANCOCK - Love Affair [2008]

A rare and artful Jazz interpreter. Reminiscent of Julie London or Diana Krall, she delivers smoky ballads, pure blues and playful swing in every note. Amy began her vocal career 2005 in the jazz scene of eastern North Carolina with pianists William 'Mac' McLaughlin and Joe Cea, drummer Chuck Leonard and bassist Pete Innocenti. In 2009 she earned a spot with Bob French's Original Tuxedo Jazz Band playing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and with Bob’s band at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street. Now a Raleigh resident, Amy helped form Tin Tuxedo, a 5tet with monthly residency at renowned C Grace Jazz Club, and listening room duo at the Empress Room. A true improv talent, Amy is well respected by those with whom she plays. Her diverse portfolio spans from Nina Simone and Blossom Dearie, to Ellington, Porter, Monk, Frishberg, Corea, Miles Davis, Antonio Jobim, etc, and her signature, warm and graceful subtlety, a sublime musical beauty.  www.reverbnation.com
