Here's a rather skimpy sized offering -- a little over half-an-hour's worth -- of radio airchecks by Glenn Miller's preferred female vocalist, Marion Hutton. The "nicer" of the two Hutton sisters, charming Marion is heard performing material associated with some of the most popular acts of the late '30s and early '40s, including Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald and of course Glenn Miller, with additional vocals by Tex Beneke, Ray Eberle and the Modernaires. The itinerary accurately conveys this singer's regular ratio of 65-percent sugar to 35-percent spice. She is at her perkiest on "There'll Be Some Changes Made," "Boog It" and "Let's Do It." Sound quality is nothing to write home about, as one would expect from a budget release of recordings originally filched from old radio broadcasts. by arwulf arwulf
